Questions :

What is the way out of the economic downturn in India?

Answer:

Although it is expected in advance that it will face a severe economic downturn due to the curfew, the current figures have produced more shock than expected. From April to June 2020, the first quarter of the current financial year, India's GDP fell by 23.9%. During this period the economic movement came to a standstill. Consumption and investment have declined. Unemployment and loss of income are on the rise.

Chief Economic Adviser Krishnamurthy Subramaniam has said that India will recover from this decline and move towards a gradual growth phase in the coming quarters. But it appears that such an economic recovery will have to wait at least two years. For that too, responsibility and dedicated collaboration are important. If the government continues today with its outstretched approach of ‘God’s work’, this fall will be a tragedy that will last for years to come. The Central Government should immediately launch an economic program for the next two years to help India recover from the recession. A steering committee should be set up to set aside political differences and include eminent persons for financial management, and under its guidance the program should be formulated and implemented.
